Letter 1 — Evolving in Spirals
Hi dear,
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on something, and I wanted to share it with you. I’ve been thinking about the difference between evolving in a spiral and evolving in a circle through life.
At first sight, they can look very similar. But I’ve come to feel that they are actually very different.
The first one takes its roots in intuition; the other is contained by the ego. The first guides us towards expansion, while the other keeps us in a closed loop.
1. Embracing change
The spiral calls us to transcend our limitations, to go beyond the known, to embrace change. In contrast, staying within the safety of what is known and comfortable can keep us moving in a loop.
When something uncomfortable, unknown, or painful arises, do we try to restore balance by returning to the same point we were at before? Do we try to control it?
Do we reject the challenge that is coming towards us?
Or do we embrace it?
What happens when we choose to meet the great challenge, to dive into it and welcome it as an opportunity to grow and evolve, without needing to control it or avoid it?
This is where intuition comes in. Deep down, perhaps we already know what is best for us. But sometimes it can be difficult to hear that knowing, especially when the voice of the ego is louder. The work of the ego is to preserve. It naturally prefers the known to the unknown, because the known feels safer. It wants to bring us back to what we already know, to what feels familiar, even when what is familiar is no longer where we are meant to be.
We can go beyond these boundaries and lean deeper into the unknown, allowing ourselves to fully trust our intuition and have faith.
2. Healing the wounds
As we heal the wounds of the past and irrigate what has become crystallized within us, we untangle blockages and allow the water to flow again.
Through releasing, we heal from the past. The past no longer holds the same grip. We resolve old contracts so that we don't repeat the same patterns over and over and don’t stay stuck in the loop.
3. Releasing the need for perfection
Perfection is a projection of the ego.
When we wish for things to be perfect, we don't allow space for growth. Because we are focused on a known outcome, we don't allow space for the surprise of the unknown. We wish to control the process.
And so we stay in the same loop, repeating the same patterns.
By releasing perfection, we release the old ways of doing things. We loosen our grip on how things should unfold and allow ourselves to embrace evolution.
4. As above, so below
When we allow ourselves to fully move through the cycle, something can complete.
As we meet deeper layers within ourselves, we become able to rise and meet higher landscapes too.
From loops we start moving in spirals. In an expansive movement, moved by the momentum of life.
5. Your inner world creates your outer world
I think especially in our time, when self-improvement, spirituality, healing, and the constant idea of becoming a better version of ourselves are so present everywhere, it can be easy to get caught in a race towards becoming.
To always be doing. Always working on ourselves. Always trying to go further, deeper, higher.
To such an extent that we forget how to simply be.
We forget presence. After all, the journey of the soul is first and foremost about being here, on this Earth.
From which place do we move?
Is it from a place of lack? Of not feeling enough? Of not feeling worthy? Is it because we feel incomplete?
Or is it from a place of presence, love, nourishment, and curiosity for life?
It can be easy to become stuck in a never-ending search on the outside for something that can only be found within.
Cultivate inside what you wish to find on the outside. Love. A sense of home. Abundance. Find it inside first.
As long as we don't restore balance within and feel nourished from the inside, the outside will not feed our hunger. And we can become stuck in a never-ending search. Stuck in a loop. Because the outside will never truly nourish the hunger of the soul.
6. Allowing the seasons
The season of stillness is also part of the journey, and maybe one of the most important parts of it.
Evolution is not always about moving further, deeper, or higher. Sometimes it is about staying. Resting. Allowing to become still.
And this is also part of evolving in a spiral.
Allowing the in-between. Can simply be here, without having to become something else ?
Thank you, dear, for reading and for being part of this journey.
May the spiral of life move you and guide you.
May you always remember that you have it all within you.
With love,
Camille
